15th Annual Kids Connection Conference
Sunday, April 18, 2010 from 1:00 to 5:00 pm

Adoptions Together invites you to join us for our 15th annual celebration of adoptive families. This year’s theme, Traditions and Family Rituals, will help you discover how to nurture family bonds and create a shared identity by using traditions and rituals to change everyday activities into memorable special events.
Creating a common identity can be especially important for adoptive families where members do not all share biological ties and differences may feel more pronounced. Adopted children sometimes feel like they don’t “fit” and their families may struggle with how to establish commonality and help their children feel like they truly belong. Rituals and traditions offer adoptive families a vehicle for fostering connections, maintaining unity, and defining what makes each family unique.
Overcoat Day. Welcome Summer Party. Monthly Pizza Blast. Bus Stop Party. These are just some of the enjoyable and inventive new traditions Meg Cox shares in “The Book of New Family Traditions.” At the Kids Connection Conference, invited guest speaker Meg Cox will guide you through the simple steps that will help your family fully cherish all of those special moments and milestones, help heal the wounds of trauma and loss, and strengthen that indomitable spirit of identity within your family.
By attending this year’s conference, you will learn how to establish fun, creative rituals and celebrations for holidays, birthdays, bedtime, dinnertime, homework, vacations, and every occasion. Each family will leave the conference with a better understanding of who they are and what makes them a family, as well as an enhanced commitment to nurturing family bonds.
