Adoption of Waiting Children from China

The Children in Need of Adoption

The China Center for Adoption Affairs has approved Adoptions Together for Special Needs adoptions. Older boys and girls or those who have medical issues are waiting to be adopted. The CCAA maintains a data base of waiting children. who can be adopted by anyone. They also send a small group of waiting children who can be placed by our agency only. You can see our current group of waiting Chinese children by clicking here.

Some of the children have been in an orphanage since birth and some have been in the orphanage for less than a year. A number are also in foster care. You may not adopt more than one child at one time.

Parental Qualifications for Adoption in China

To adopt a waiting child, you must meet the general criteria for adopting from China. But the CCAA will allow couples up to age 55 to adopt a waiting child.  All applicants must have a good income (more than $10,000/person in the family) and show that they have the educational, psychological, and medical resources to provide for the child’s special needs.

 Waiting Child Adoption Procedures

All families must have a completed homestudy to consider a specific child.  If a family wants a particular child from the shared list of children, we will "lock" that child on your behalf.  You then have 48 hours to submit an application to adopt that child.

We strongly recommend that both parents travel to China to finalize the adoption in country, although only one parent is required to travel.  The typical in-country stay is about 15 days. The trip to China is a wonderful opportunity to experience your child's culture and to travel "worry free" with all of the details arranged by our delightful English speaking staff who will meet your plane and remain with you throughout your stay until you bring your child HOME!
