Adoptions Together is excited to be working with All Blessings International to find families for orphaned and abandoned children in Haiti. All Blessings International, also known as Kentucky Adoption Services, is a nonprofit agency licensed in Kentucky and Missouri. They have been working in Haiti for 4 yrs and support numerous humanitarian efforts in Haiti.
Adoptions Together provides families with Home Study and Post Placement services as well as Training and Dossier Preparation assistance. All Blessings International provides the referral information and facilitates arrangements in Haiti.
The Haitian Children available for adoption have been abandoned or orphaned before the January 12, 2010 earthquake. Children who were relinquished by surviving birth parents are also eligible for adoption. Newly orphaned or displaced children will not be available for adoption in the near future, as the focus is on identifying any possible living relatives.
The children are usually 18 months and older at the time of referral. Many of the children come from an emotionally stable background with loving families. They will be dealing with the trauma of the earthquake and loss of their families as well as transition to a new family.
The information received about the children is limited. Prospective families will receive results of a cursory medical exam, including HIV, hepatitis and sickle cell testing. Photos and first hand reports of the child’s behavior are usually available.
