Adoption: A Lifelong Journey

A full-day seminar to address developmental stages of adoption, bonding and attachment, understanding the cycle of grief and loss for children and parents, adoption and adolescence, family of origin issues, infertility, and post-adoption clinical concerns. 

 

Talking to Children About Adoption

This training will explore what children understand about adoption at different developmental stages. Participants will learn how to help adoptive parents plan ahead for questions from their children, how to help their children handle comments and questions about adoption, and how to share difficult birth history with their children.

 

Tying Up Loose Ends: Adolescent Issues in Adoptive Families

A 2-hour seminar that addresses how adoption influences teen identity, emerging sexuality, separation from parents, and communication with their families. 

 

“What’s Love Got To Do With It?”: The Last Taboo in Adoption

A 2-hour seminar that examines the powerful issue of parental love as pertains to families formed through adoption, and provides strategies for dealing with conflicting emotions while still providing a nurturing and healthy home.
